I love this time of year. The weather gets cooler and yet it is not the darkness of winter . And the best part is the bountiful harvest that happens. All the neighbors are swapping produce and everything is so fresh. We have a family garden that we planted in the spring and now everything is ready from it. 2 weeks ago we canned green beans and then this past weekend we did corn. It is a starchy, sticky mess, but oh so worth it. Hailey helped a lot more than I expected, she really stuck with it. She washed the ears and then pulled them out of the sink and put them on a pan. I thought she would bail on us, but she was there the whole time. I recorded her, but she was too busy eating the corn. Up to that point she wouldn't touch it, especially when we picked it and husked it, she hated the silk strings and said the ears were too bumpy. As soon as I stopped recording she spit her mouthful out into my hand! (She is too young to appreciate a good thing when she has it!) We got 47 freezer bags, so we can have corn about once a week for a year. It is so yummy, I am looking forward to having it in the winter. And I am so grateful for Dave really pitching in and getting this done, he is a natural canner even though this is his first year doing it!

Dave has helped can before, though not with your family. We used to go over to Grandma Maxwell's every fall and do beans, corn, peaches, and pears. He's had experience. Plus he's a really good helper at just about everything.
Cute video! I love how Hailey's trying to eat the end of the cob. :D
It is true, Dave has "helped" with the process, but never actually done it before. We had some help picking and snapping and cutting, but we did it all by ourselves, looking the cooking times up on the internet and doing the actual canning. He was the one who told me that he had never done it before. And he is a really good helper at everything!
Yum! Frozen corn is the BEST! Cory & I did some a couple of weeks ago and it's yummy!

Hey Michelle, it's been a very long time, I don't even know if you remember me! I found you through Britnee's blog You have a super cute family, it's so much fun to see what people are up to and how they have grown!
You are going to have to teach me all of this. I just need to get brave and plant a garden.
You have such a cute little family! I have not heard from you or seen you in forever! I hope things are going well.
