Since it is summer we have had fun getting out more. We really love the water! It is a lot harder to go to the pool by myself with 2 kids, but for the first time today I ventured out to the American Fork Kiddie Pool with my friend Rachael and her kids. I put Preston in his car, since it was really hot, I stripped him down to his diaper and he was happy as a clam after that, staring at the striped towel I draped over his seat for more shade. I stood in the shallow water and was watching Hailey while talking to Rachael. I saw Hailey stumble in the water and go under. This is not uncommon for her, she usually just hops up. I waited a brief second for her to stand back up again but she didn't get up. That is the worst feeling in the world, to see your kid floating face down in the water! I darted over to her in about half a second flat and pulled her out of the water. (I felt like I was on Baywatch splashing through the water--without the rockin' bod!)I knew that she had only been under for maybe 5 seconds total, and she didn't even cough when I pulled her out. She was more upset that she had gotten her face wet.But this didn't make me feel any better. There were other moms sitting on the side of the pool near where she went under and they started applauding and one of them gave me a thumbs up; "Good mommy save!" she said. Rachael said that its times like these your heart starts racing and it reassures you that you really do love your kids. A little heart racing experience where nothing bad happened, (thank heavens that I was paying attention) but it made me so grateful for life, breathing air and made me want to NEVER take my eyes off of her while swimming. I put sunscreen SPF 50 on both of us, and yet Hailey and I managed to get burned! I feel like an awful mom. (she is one sunburn closer to skin cancer! ) So although everything turned out to be fine, I just feel like a bad mom today. Oh well! We still had fun and there were smiles all around as you can see from the pics!

Awww, the pool! It looks like so much fun. I haven't found a really good kiddy pool around here yet. I can't believe you guys got sunburned even with spf 50!!!
thanks for the memories! As I was reading the comment I would think of the things that you said next! I would like to add a comment about our all time favorite roomate! I remember sitting on your bed and trying to talk to her like civilized human beings so that she didnt think that we hated her! HELLO!!!
I have had some outtings that were hard for me the mom. Just getting ready for the outting makes me tired. The kids don't remember that it was hard, only the fun they had. So (just last night) I decided that I have to do these "hard" things like swimming or going to the farm, etc... so my kids have a childhood and enjoy themselves. ---But not too many hard things!
Yeah I don't think any of that makes you a bad mom! Sounds like a fun day, not-withstanding all the misadventures :)
